Abstract

A hybrid Simpson’s type second derivative method is proposed in this paper for the solution of stiff ordinary differential equations. The method is derived by interpolation and collocation of power series to generate continuous linear multistep methods (clmms). he derived schemes consist of the main method and two additional methods which are combined to form the block method The analysis of the properties of the methods show that the method beside being consistent and zero- stable is also A-stable; which is a reliable property for solving stiff ordinary differential equations.
